2014 JUNIOR CAMP COUNSELOR PROGRAM INFORMATION

4-H Junior Counselors are a very important part of our total camp program. 4-H Junior Counselors are both givers and receivers of 4-H camp educational programs.  This is an opportunity for youth in 8th and 9th grade to develop their leadership skills and be an active participant in 4-H Junior Wildlife Stewards Camp.  Junior Counselors will be assigned a tribe and they will be expected to work with and in cooperation with their teen counselors to ensure a safe, healthy and happy experience for their campers.  Teen counselors will serve as mentors to the Junior Counselors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set a good example according to camp objectives
  • Be a good, enthusiastic camper
  • Be punctual and attend all camp programs
  • Associate with campers instead of other counselors
  • Assist teen counselors ensure all campers follow camp rules
  • Never leave camp without permission from the Camp Director
  • Abide by all rules, policies, and procedures
  • Assist teen counselors ensure the safety of the campers
  • Assist teen counselors ensure that all campers participate in the daily fulfillment of cabin clean-up
  • Assist teen counselors facilitate campers personal hygiene, practices, and make sure campers are properly dressed for different activities
  • Seek adult staff help with difficult campers
  • Assist assigned camper group (5-6 campers) for campfire program which include skits, camp songs and other special presentations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have completed 8th grade by June 2014
  • Must have completed the 4-H Junior Wildlife Stewards Camp Counselor in Training Program
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Willing to participate in counselor training sessions Love of the outdoors and a willingness and enthusiasm for sharing it with children

TRAINING AND CAMP DATES:

  • Application Deadline – March 3, 2014
  • Junior Counselor Arrival - Monday, July 28th at 1:00 pm
  • Camper Arrival - Tuesday, July 29tht at 9:30 am
  • Camper Departure - Saturday, Augus t2nd at 2:00 pm
  • Junior Camp Staff Departure - Saturday, August 2nd at 3:00 pm

 

TO APPLY:  The camp fee for Junior Counselors is $200.00. Download and complete your 2014 Camp Enrollment and submit along with a $50.00 nonrefundable camp deposit by March 1, 2014. Full payment is due July 1, 2014.
