2009 Food Preservation Classes

Oregon State University Extension of Linn and Benton Counties welcomes residents to attend Food Preservation classes this summer.  There will be a variety of classes in Corvallis and Albany covering the preservation of fruits, pickles, vegetables, meat, fish, and tomatoes.

The classes will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on various nights throughout the summer in both Corvallis and Albany.

September 10, 2009 Tomatoes, Corvallis

Participants will learn how to preserve their fruits, vegetables and jams and become up to date on the latest USDA recommendations.  Canning will be emphasized in the classes but instructor will also demonstrate dehydrating and freezing as appropriate.

To register for classes complete and mail in the registration form. Registration forms can be found online and at the Linn and Benton County Extension Offices.  The Linn office is located at 104 Fourth St in Albany and the Benton office is located at 1849 NW 9th St. in Corvallis.  The cost for each class is $7.00 for supplies.  All participants will take home products they have preserved in class.  Pre-registration and Pre-payment of class fee is required.
