Master Gardener Program now taking applications
Gardeners of all skill levels are invited to become Oregon State University Extension Service Master Gardeners™. Applications are being accepted for the 2010 training program which begins January 2010. The 11-week course meets each Wednesday from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm through March 16 at The Linn County Extension office.
Class subjects include botany basics, soil management, plant nutrition, pest identification and control, diagnosis of plant problems, growing vegetables, lawns, and fruit trees. Weekly instructors include Oregon State University teaching and Extension faculty, experienced Master Gardeners and other professionals.
After completion of training participants volunteer 66 hours of time answering gardening questions at the OSU Extension office and at educational gardening events throughout the gardening season.
Applications for the program will be accepted through December 1st. They are available at the Benton County Extension office, 1849 NW 9th Street, Corvallis and the Linn County Extension office on the corner of 4th and Lyons in Albany as well as below.
The cost for the class is $110.00 which includes all class materials and a gardening handbook.

The Master Gardener program began in 1978 by the Oregon State University Extension Service in response to increased home-gardening questions asked by the public. It continues to offer quality training to participants with gardening experience while supporting the community.
