OSU EXTENSION FORESTRY IS

  • Problem-solving education
  • Research-based knowledge
  • New ways to manage and use Oregon's forest resources wisely
  • Increased human capacity to improve lives

Who we are

We're a team of Oregon State University faculty whose job is to help you.

We are the link between the latest forestry knowledge and you. Our subject matter specialists on the OSU campus in Corvallis are experts in their fields. They're the first to know of new research that may help you. From offices around the state, our county agents bring this knowledge directly to you.

We come from many backgrounds--woodland management, protection, marketing, business, taxation, public policy, harvesting, wood products, and manufacturing. So no matter what your question, we can help you find answers.

No matter where you are in Oregon, we're here to help you. Our agents are located in OSU county Extension offices throughout the state. Whether you work in our forests or just visit them, we have programs for you.

General public, educators, youth

As Oregon's population grows and becomes more urban, competing demands on our forest resources increase. At the same time, fewer people have direct ties to our natural resources. Citizens and public policy makers need to be able to sort out the many facts, myths, values, and unknowns surrounding our forests. Our educational programs help you do just that.

  • Radio programs. A pilot program using low power radio technology speaks to motorists as they travel through our forests.
  • Public issues education. Education for improved action and decisions about forest policy issues.
