The Clackamas Extension office will be closed on December 17 for an all-day staff meeting and for these holiday dates: November 27-28 and December 24-26, 2014, and January 1, 2015.

The Extension Service is a resource for producers of all sizes who want the latest, research-based information. We have several regional faculty who provide support for small farms and commercial agriculture in Clackamas County.

Do you have a small farm? Extension can help.

The Small Farms website provides information on starting an enterprise, finding a niche, and marketing your product. It is hosted by the Oregon State University Extension Small Farms Program.

Clackamas County support comes from Nick Andrews, who is located at the North Willamette Research and Extension Center (NWREC) in Aurora.

Small Farm School 2014

Small Farm School is a full day event with hands on and classroom workshops for beginning farmer and small acreage rural landowners. Join us the first Saturday of September at Clackamas Community College.

Field and classroom workshops include pig and poultry management, fruit and vegetable production, soil management, tractor safety and operation, on farm veterinary care and much more.

Registration for Small Farm School 2014 is now open.

Seed Certification

The Oregon Seed Certification Service provides a service to the public for the maintenance and increase of quality seed and propagating material. The service is provided to insure varietal purity and seed quality through review and retention of crop production records and a series of field and laboratory evaluations.

Gene Pirelli provides technical support about Livestock and Forages in the North Willamette Valley. He is based in the Polk County office in Dallas.

 

Big problems need big support.

The North Willamette Research and Extension Center (NWREC), located in Clackamas County, houses Extension faculty who specailize in the major crops of our area and the issues facing commercial producers. NWREC is located in Aurora.
