Meet our building contractor Dan Coleman

Dan Coleman from Colton is the building contractor for the Forestry and Natural Resources education building at the Hopkins Demonstration Forest.  Dan is an independent contractor and owns Coleman Construction Services.

Dan began work on the Hopkins project in early June, 2010.  He mostly works by himself but has been very gracious to have community volunteers provide assistance.  If we had a volunteer every day at the building site it would make Dan's work go faster. Obviously, some tasks are much easier with a second pair of hands.

In addition to the education building, Dan is contracting with Forests Forever to raise a historic fire tower. This fire tower is the historic Clatskanie Mountain Lookout from the Oregon Coast Range.  Most recently the tower was located at the Magness Tree Farm near Wilsonville.  This work will include pouring the footers for the steel framework of the tower, reconstructing the tower cabin, and raising the structure.

If you can volunteer just once, on a sporadic basis or on a regular basis...please contact Ken Everett, Executive Director of Forests Forever (503-655-5524), who is coordinating our community volunteers.  Or just show up on site!
