Friday, May 3, Swiss Needle Cast Field Tour, 7:30am-5:30pm in the Tillamook area. Carpool from Oregon City. Registration is required. Contact the OSU Extension office at 503-655-8631.

Friday, May 10, Log Sort Yard Tour, 1:00-4:00pm at the Teevin Bros. log sort yard in Rainier, OR. Contact the OSU Extension office at 503-655-8631. This tour is full.

Saturday, May 11, Community Forestry Day, 8:30am-4:30pm, call ahead for lunch reservation. Location: Hopkins Demonstration Forest, Beavercreek. Everyone is welcome. Contact 503-632-2150 for info, tool needs and lunch.

Friday, May 17, Master Woodland Manager training begins, Northwest Oregon Metro Area - seven sessions through November 9. Providing Knowledge, Skills and Excellence in Land Stewardship and Volunteer Service. For more information or to apply: http://extension.oregonstate.edu/mwm/.

Monday, June 3, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Christmas trees workshop. This workshop is appropriate for growers who manage Christmas tree operations of any size. For more information contact the Extension office at 503-655-8631. Registration required.

TREES AND FORESTS

Clackamas County is home to some of the most productive tree growing land in the world. Our native forests cover more than two-thirds of the county's land. In addition, thousands of acres of land have been planted to Christmas trees and ornamental landscape nursery trees.

John and Carol Belton's property picture compressed Tree crops and products are a mainstay of our local economy providing important jobs for residents and income for landowners and managers. In fact, nearly 20% of all personal income for Clackamas County residents comes from our trees. Growing and managing trees is a big business in Clackamas County.

The OSU Extension Forestry program provides the education and research support for tree growers in Clackamas County. Our education programs keep landowners and managers on the cutting edge of technology and provide information to assist them to imporve the productivity and profitability of their land.

Remember...Clackamas County is tree country. We look forward to serving you!

 

The Oregon Department of Forestry now has three Stewardship Foresters providing assistance to landowners and oversight on forest practices in Clackamas county.
