Principal Programs

Extension's forestry program addresses stewardship of forest resources and options for sustaining their economic and environmental benefits. Practical education is provided for forest owners, managers and workers, wood products manufacturers, forestry and business professionals, youth, and the general public.

Specific programs in Clatsop and Tillamook county will vary year to year. Examples include:

• Presentations and workshops on topics such as:
  Forest management planning, reforestation, growth, harvesting, hardwood management, log marketing, forest taxation, forest health, processing and use of wood, non-timber forest products, protection of soil and water, riparian zone forestry, sustainable forestry, multiple uses and values, and "green" certification.
• Master Woodland Manager course.
• Project Learning Tree workshops for K-12 teachers
• Youth education - forestry tours and field classes
• Public issues in forestry
• Applied research focused on solving local forestry problems
