Family and Community
At this time we do not have a nutrition educator.
Extension's Family and Community Development Program offers effective educational opportunities to help Oregon families meet the practical challenges of daily life. Programs address critical issues for individuals and families and help Oregonians become healthy, financially secure, and responsible members of society. This is accomplished by faculty, volunteers, professionals, and support staff, who organize and conduct educational experiences through the media and in group, community, and family settings.
Physical activity and healthy eating are essential for good health. Unfortunately, too many Oregonians have poor eating habits and are not active enough. Inactivity and poor food choices contribute to obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer and diabetes – leading causes of disease and death in Oregon. Poor eating and physical inactivity combined are the 2nd preventable cause of death in Oregon and the U.S. – only tobacco kills more people. Here are resources to help you make better food choices and become more active.
