Food Preservation

Oregon State University Extension Service is your source for research based information on safe home food preservation.  Here are the services that we offer in Columbia County:

Food Preservation Classes:

Every summer we offer hands-on food preservation classes that are open to the public.  See our announcement for the latest Food Preservation Class dates!

Food Preservation Publications:

All our publications and fact sheets can be viewed and printed online.

For printed copies of our materials, stop by our office in St. Helens.

Dial Gauge Testing:

Pressure canner dial gauges should be tested every year before canning to ensure that they are accurate.  We offer this service FREE of charge in our office, Monday thru Friday.  It's a good idea to CALL FIRST to make an appointment to have your gauge tested, or be prepared to leave the gauge and we will call you when its ready to pick up.

Food Preservation Presentations:

Groups of 10 or more can request a one hour Food Preservation presentation, FREE of charge.  Call for more information.
