Backyard Forestry CourseThis program gives people the opportunity to learn the (how, what, when, why) about maintaining your property. This program gives landscaping techniques, information on water issues, recycling, air quality, fire protection, and wildlife stewardship. There are many more pieces to this program, so be an informed citizen and learn of the different issues pertaining to your backyard. The economy of Coos and Curry counties depends on its natural resources. They are particularly dependent on their forest. The role of private non-industrial forest landowners and the management and stewardship of their lands has become increasingly important to the local economy. Education plays a key role in maintaining a strong and healthy natural resource base. Some of the educational programs include the Backyard Forestry Course. As urban pressures increase many people acquire homes in the forest environment. Often they own only a few acres yet still wish to do things to enhance their property. This program will provide tools and knowledge for land/home owners to better understand tree identification, fire protection, wildlife stewardship, woodland health, and forest regulations.
