Coos County Master Gardener™ Program Scholarship Funds

The purpose of this scholarship program is to create opportunities to expand public interest and participation in sustainable, environmentally responsible gardening practices through education, promotion, and networking. 

The Coos County Master Gardener Association (CCMGA) will award scholarships for the academic year of 2017-2018 to Coos County High School graduates/equivalent AND/OR current legal Coos County resident/s, to further their education by obtaining a degree in a plant-related field. The field of study might include agriculture, biology, botany, entomology, horticulture, or landscape design.

Scholarships totaling $2,000 will be awarded for the academic year 2017-2018. The Coos County Master Gardener Scholarship Committee will determine the distribution of awards annually. This determination will be made after the interviews.

Requirements for scholarship applicant (current college student):

       Completed application along with a current photograph

       Official college transcript(s)

       Two current (written within the current school year) letters of recommendation, dated and    signed.  One letter should be from an instructor.

       Telephone interview with Coos County Master Gardener Scholarship Committee during the

       week of May 22nd-26th.

        Identify all funding sources.

Requirements for Coos County high school graduate/equivalent applicant:

       Completed application along with a current photograph.

       Official high school transcript or copy of your high school diploma or equivalent.

       Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.

       Acceptance letter to a college or university.

       Two current (written within the current school year) letters of recommendation are required,   one of the two letters should be from an instructor.

Telephone interview with the CCMGA Scholarship Committee during week of May 22nd-26th.

Deadlines:

April 14, 2017: Completed application must be postmarked no later than this date.  Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

 

Funding:

Upon receipt of proof of acceptance at the college or university of the applicant’s choice, funds will be disbursed directly to the college or university business office and applied to the student’s tuition or books.
