Oregon Open Campus - local access to learning
Oregon Open Campus is a collaboration between Oregon State University, the Coos & Curry County Extension Services, Southwestern Oregon Community College and local agencies. This community-based partnership, convened by Oregon State University, provides local access to learning in order to address the unique educational needs of Oregon's communities.
Open Campus provides expanded opportunities to access OSU's resources such as offerings available through Ecampus and Professional and Noncredit Education. Through these avenues, learning from Oregon State is not limited to people who live in close proximity to the campus.
In addition to collaborating with SWOCC, Open Campus partners with regional economic development groups, K-12 education systems, the business community, and local government with these goals in mind:
• Improve access to educational resources and programs that meet local needs.
• Increase partnerships with local educational providers and community-based businesses to expand career and college readiness, degree completion and professional and economic development.
• Improve coordination of existing and new resources for lifelong education available within a community, including enhancing a college-going culture and enabing access to distance learning.
• Provide a mechanism for coordination among K-12, community college and university programming to meet local, state and federal educational requirements and goals.
