  • Weaning and Preconditioning Program and Barbeque: (2008 TBA)
    • We invite you to spend an afternoon visiting with friends and neighbors and enjoying a hamburger at the Crook County Extension Office.  We will be visiting about weaning strategies, preconditioning programs and marketing.  Speakers for the program included Nin McCormack, Cattle Producer, Prineville; Dave Bohnert, Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center, Burns; Chad Mueller, Livestock System Specialist, OSU; Dr. Mark McFarland, D.V.M; Barbi Riggs, Central Oregon Livestock Agent and Ron Rowan, Beef Northwest.
  • Estrous Synchronization: (2008 TBA)
    • Synchronization of estrus and ovulation is technique that forces your cows to display heat and ovulate in a short period of time.  Synchronization can be implemented to shorten your calving season using either artificial insemination or natural service from your herd bulls.  Synchronization also significantly decreases the amount of labor required for A.I. programs by limiting or eliminating the need for heat detection.  Any size operation can use this tool.  Please join us for discussion and tips on synchronization programs.
