4-H Dorm Renovation Project

Dorm Renovationdorm renovatio kitchen

The Curry County 4-H Leader's Association in partnership with Curry Fair Friends has announced the renovation of the 4-H dorms as a part of the first phase of the master plan for development and capacity building on the Curry County Fairgrounds. Usage of the space will be open to community groups and non-profit organizations during non-Fair times. Plans to market to bicylclists and other overnight groups will bring potential new revenue to the fairgrounds.

Support from local community members throughout Curry County is key to the success of this project. Participate in the Buy-a-Board Campaign or consider a donation of volunteer time or in-kind materials.

  • Buy-a-Board Campaign: Make your support known by participating in the Buy-a-Board Campaign! Your name or business will be etched with wood burning tools into the boards lining the walls by 4-H youth. Support a great cause and give a child the opportunity to learn or improve his craftsmanship.
  • Volunteer Sign-Up: An estimated 2000 hours of volunteer hours will be needed to complete this project. Volunteer assignments range from skilled labor to meal preparation and clean up crews. Complete the online assignment form and we will ensure you are place on the right project during a time that works best for you. Join our team of hardworking volunteers! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RJHN2JB
  • In-Kind Materials: Every resource, material or service donated will help lessen project expenses. If you or your business have construction supplies, skilled labor (e.g. excavation, electrical, plumbing) or other materials you would like to donate, please contact Michelle Carrillo, Coordinator, 4-H Youth Development at (541) 247-6672

Campership Fund - Lobster Creek Youth Camp

Make summer camp a possibility for a child in the community who might otherwise not be able to attend. The Campership Fund allows local community members and businesses the chance to send a kid to camp.

Each summer, Curry County hosts a 4-day residential camping experience for 3rd-5th grade students. Campers participate in activities including: expressive arts, outdoor survival, archery and pellet guns, snorkeling, swimming, hiking and more!

A donation of $100 covers transportation, 4 days of meals and lodging, craft supplies, a t-shirt and medical insurance. Partial camperships are also available.

Your donation will last a lifetime through the memories and friends made at Lobster Creek Camp.

Fair Premium Donation ribbon

Local 4-H youth look forward each year to exhibiting at the Curry County Fair. The culmination of months of hard work and efforts on the projects they have chosen finally pay off.

Projects range from livestock to robotics to homsteading- all serving a greater purpose to help the youth of Curry County to develop as citizens through leadership, responsibility and life skills.

Our youth depend on the donations from local businesses and individuals to raise funds to provide premium awards at Fair. These awards help encourage participation and recognize the achievements of our youth.
