Herbicide Control of English Hawthorne

I receive numerous inquiries for herbicide control of English Hawthorne. This weed causes economic loss for ranchers, and no herbicide recommendations are available (see Figure 1). I enlisted the help of Jed Colquhoun (Extension Weed Specialist) and initiated a replicated herbicide spray trial at a site in Douglas County. Spring and fall 2001 herbicide applications have been made and observations continue. Results will be shared at the county level, and reported in peer-reviewed publications and the Pacific Northwest Weed Control Manual.
