Master Gardener Training 2018 Registration Application

Date:
Friday, July 28, 2017 - 9:00am - Friday, September 29, 2017 - 10:00am

Applications are now being accepted through September 29, 2017.  Apply early to reserve your seat. Class size is limited.  Click here to find an application and complete details about this program.

Update as of 09/08/2017:  This class is nearly full.  If you have not yet submitted your application, we recommend that you bring your application to the office (see address below).

This is a great opportunity to expand your home gardening knowledge.  This program provides training in botany, disease identification, soil science, insect identification and control, and information on specific plants such as ornamentals, berries, lawns, vegetables, and orchard plants; everything you need to get started to answer home gardening questions. After the first part of this training program, you'll then be involved in work to further expand your knowledge by working with the Master Gardener Plant Clinic for 36 hours which provides information to the public's gardening questions under the guidance of experienced veteran Master Gardeners.  In addition you'll work 24 hours on other projects including plant propagation and care in the greenhouses, gardening work at the Discovery Garden, and information tables at fun events around the county.  The total work commitment is 60 hours to complete the Master Gardener Training.

The application is available online or you can pick up a copy at the OSU Extension Service Office at 1134 SE Douglas, Roseburg or call the office at 541-672-4461 to request a copy.  The application process includes:

1. Submit application
2. Attend a meeting with Steve Renquist, OSU Horticulture Agent.
3. Pay fee (cash or check)
4. Pick up class handbook
5. Start class on January 2, 2018 and attend class every Tuesday for 11 weeks.

Return your application to the OSU Extension Service Office. Then you will be called for an appointment for a brief meeting with Steve Renquist.  After the meeting you'll be asked to pay the class fee with either cash or check. After payment, you'll receive your class handbook. We will be happy to help with any questions.

Along with the application you will find a letter explaining the details of this once a year Master Gardener Training in Douglas County Oregon. Let us know if you will not be available in October for the meeting with Steve, class fee payment and receipt of your text book. If you are not prepared to take the 2018 class, we will be happy to add you to our mailing list for the class of 2019; just email Mary your mailing address (see below).
