
Tree School is back in Douglas County!
Location: Umpqua Community College, Roseburg, Oregon. This once a year event in SW Oregon is a one-day mini-college for family forestland owners, foresters, loggers, arborists, teachers and the general public. Classes typically include vegetation management and reforestration, riparian planting and silviculture, insects and diseases of conifers and hardwoods, thinning, small scale logging, wildfire, hydrogeology and water regulations, soils, forest protection rules, tree identification, Christmas tree management, certification and sustainability, and cruising, falling, bucking, and scaling timber. Included are morning coffee and refreshments, lunch, morning and afternoon break refreshments, transportation for field sessions, portable sawmill demonstrations and vendor tables. Date: March 28, 2013 - Thursday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Registration Deadlines: 5:00 pm, Friday, March 15, 2013 for standard fee schedules. Fees will increase to $70 per person after March 15, 2013. Register EARLY since each year some classes fill to capacity. Seating is limited.
