Position Description:
In addition to my responsibilities as department head, I lead the news and periodicals group within the Department of Extension and Experiment Station Communications, a name that was given without consultation from writers. We would have called it the Department of Stories.
Our stories confirm the reputation of Oregon State University as a world-class center for research, teaching, and outreach.
A graduate of University of Virginia, University of California, and University of Oregon, I learned to write by listening. I have listened to scientists, managers and policy-makers from around the world and helped them hear what the other is saying.
Extension and agricultural research are full of good people doing good work worth listening to. This work cannot be told by data alone. EESC news and periodicals put these data into stories that explain how Extension and research help us all live better lives.
