EESC faculty design the architecture and graphic interface that define the online presence of OSU Extension and the Agricultural Experiment Station. Our faculty work with colleagues in counties and branch stations to lead the systemwide adoption of Drupal, a Web-based content management system. Writers, editors, designers, photographers, and Web developers work together to create useful, meaningful, and beautiful online learning environments.
Web site planning
An effective Web site is more than just links and images on a page. Building a compelling Web site that visitors will return to again and again takes planning and careful design. Form, structure, and function are key elements of a successful Web site, and that means a critical understanding of your audience. Remember, your Web site is not for you; it’s for your clients. What information do they want? How should it be organized from your audiences’ perspective? EESC can consult with your to help you determine the most effective approach to reach your audience.
A critical step is producing a site map. Here is an example site map we helped the Agricultural Experiment Stations develop.
A Web site isn’t something you read; it’s something you do. We can help you build interactivity, compelling navigation, multimedia, social media, and collaborative spaces into your site that users have come to expect in today’s Web 2.0 world.
