Jeff Sherman-Duncan

Associate Vice Provost for Partnerships

Biography

As associate vice provost for partnerships, Jeff Sherman-Duncan represents OSU and the division to expand partnerships with community colleges, increase support for transfer students and develop new programs and initiatives that support college access for underserved students. He also provides leadership and oversight of the division’s partnership-driven programs including Open Campus, Juntos and our in-development Native American and Tribal communities program.

Jeff grew up in Baker County, Oregon, on a dairy farm. In 2009, Jeff began working for OSU Extension in Tillamook County as one of three coordinators hired in the pilot Open Campus program with community colleges. After briefly working as an instructor and advisor with the OSU Agriculture and Natural Resources Program at Eastern Oregon University, Jeff was named director and program leader of Open Campus in November 2013. Under Jeff’s leadership, Open Campus has grown to serve more than 20 counties and partner with seven of Oregon’s community colleges, many of which also invest in shared positions and programming. Jeff also contributed to growth and success of the Juntos program, now the largest in the country with more than 7,000 students and families served; more than $1 million in annual support from partners, grants and contracts and a more than 90% high-school graduation and college-going rate among participants. In 2019, OSU received funding under USDA’s New Beginnings for Tribal Students program, and Jeff has helped lead establishment of that effort.

Jeff has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Oregon State University. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Adult and Higher Education, with a focus on community college transfer students and partnerships.
