Aging : Continuing Education Opportunities

OSU Gerontology Conference:

The Oregon State University Gerontology Conference has provided continuing professional education for health, allied medical, and human service professionals who work with older adults for 30 years. The conference draws an audience of between 300-500 participants from the region and is open to the public. The CH2M Hill Alumni Center on the OSU campus in Corvallis is the site for the two-day conference featuring over 40 educational sessions taught by leading geriatric professionals.

Depression in Later Life: Turning Sadness Around


This two-hour workshop reviews facts surrounding mild to major depressive disorders, the prevalence and causes of depression in older people, current treatment recommendations, and challenges in the diagnosis of late life depression. A variety of resource materials are provided to each participant. Pre-registration is requested and continuing education credits are available for licensed foster care providers, nursing home administrators, and clinical social workers.
Each workshop is presented by two members of the following team: Sally Bowman, Ph.D., OSU Extension Family Development Specialist; Karen Hooker, Ph.D., OSU Lifespan Psychologist and Deborah Padgett-Coehlo, RN, MN, Ph.D., OSU Faculty in Bend Cascades Campus.
