Getting the foods your body needs and enough physical activity is important for good health. Eating right and moving feels good, too! In this module, you will learn about choosing a healthy lifestyle for you and your family using MyPyramid.
Each colored band represents a food group. Foods at the wider part of MyPyramid (at the bottom) have lots of nutrients (they are “nutrient-dense”). Foods at the top have more calories and fewer nutrients. Imagine an apple on the bottom of the fruit group, and apple pie towards the top.
Take some time to explore the USDA website MyPyramid. You will find tools and information to help you make smart choices from every food group, find your balance between food and physical activity, and get the most nutrition out of your calories.
Be sure to choose foods from each of the food groups every day. Let’s start by learning about grains.
