Shopping & Storage Tips

Here are some tips for buying and storing calcium-rich foods:

  • For adults and children over 2 years old, choose low-fat or fat-free when you choose milk, yogurt and other milk products.
  • Read the label to be sure the milk you buy is fortified with vitamins A and D.

Buy only pasteurized milk. Raw milk may contain disease-causing bacteria. Most raw milk is not fortified with vitamins A and D. Keep milk, yogurt and cheese refrigerated.
