Vegetables
Shopping & Storage Tips
Eating a variety of vegetables will help you get the nutrients your body needs. Try a new vegetable each week: have you heard of kohlrabi? How about broccoflower? Here are some tips for buying and storing vegetables:
- Compare prices — potatoes in bags cost less than loose potatoes.
- Buy only the amount of fresh vegetables you can use in a few days. Some fresh vegetables spoil quickly.
- Buy vegetables when they are in season to get the best price.
- Canned and frozen vegetables may be the best buy when fresh vegetables are not in season.
