Other Oregon Resources for Parents

Children First for Oregon works to improve the well-being of Oregon’s children through advocacy, research, policy analysis, public education and media outreach. They publish two annual data reports—the Report Card on the Status of Children and the County Data Book. Their key areas of focus are: children’s health care coverage and access, family financial stability (particularly child care affordability); and child abuse and neglect.

Children’s Trust Fund of Oregon’s mission is to foster healthy child development and functioning by ending the harm of child abuse and neglect to Oregon's children. They fund of effective, primary prevention programs in local communities throughout the state of Oregon.

Oregon’s Child: Everyone’s Business is a statewide collaboration of public and private partners working to increase awareness about the importance of healthy brain development during the early years of life.

Oregon Commission for Child Care is created within the Employment Department to address the issues, problems and alternative solutions that are critical to the development of accessible, affordable and quality child care services.

 Oregon Commission on Children and Families All 36 Oregon counties have a local Commission on Children and Families, which is responsible for a local coordinated comprehensive plan; community mobilization; and coordination among community groups, government agencies, private providers and other parties, of programs and initiatives for children 0-18 years of age and their families.

 Oregon Department of Education provides leadership for all elementary and secondary students in Oregon's public schools and education service districts. The department is responsible for statewide curriculum and instruction programs, school improvement efforts, and Oregon's statewide assessment testing system.

Oregon Department of Human Services The Children, Adults and Families Division is responsible for administering self-sufficiency and child-protective programs. These include JOBS, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Employment Related Day Care, Food Stamps, child-abuse investigation and intervention, foster care and adoptions. The group also contains the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (OVRS), which helps Oregonians with disabilities to prepare for, find and retain jobs.

Oregon Parenting Training and Information Center is the statewide parent training and information center serving parents of children with disabilities. Their goal is to educate and support parents, families and professionals in building partnerships that meet the needs of children and youth with the full range of disabilities ages birth to 26.

Oregon Partnership is a statewide non-profit promoting healthy kids and communities through drug and alcohol awareness, prevention programs, and a 24 hour crisis line for treatment referrals. They work with schools and community coalitions statewide, and house a resource library that is open to all to educate on the dangers of substance abuse.

Oregon Post Adoption Resource Center (ORPARC) , a division of Northwest Resource Associates, is a non-profit program contracted to provide services for Oregon DHS adoptive and assisted guardianship families.
