Enrollment Begins October 1st!

     Are you 9 before September 1st, 2008? If so, you are eligible to enroll in 4-H programs. We have a large variety of activites that you can be a part of. Don't see one you like, let us know and we can talk about starting a new club. Enrollment forms can be found either on-line or can be  picked up at the Extension Office.  The cost is $18 per youth, + $1 for insurance. Enroll before January 10th to receive the discounted rate.

Making the Future Better through Teaching, Service & Research!

In a year's time, the Harney County Extension program contacts an average of 20,000 people through workshops, seminars, committee meetings, volunteer programs, field days and through 4-H and Ag Extension newsletter as well as individual consultations. This does not include media contacts.

Educational programs/resources are offered in the areas of:

  • Agriculture and Natural Resources
  • 4-H/Youth Development
  • Family Community Health

Extension programs utilize volunteer outreach in the areas of 4-H. These volunteers receive training and educational materials in exchange for service they provide for the 4-H Extension program. We currently have 69 volunteer 4-H leaders and parents, 170 4-Hers and 32 active 4-H clubs with projects ranging from livestock, horses, rabbits, dogs, leathercrafts, photography, cooking, sewing, knitting and scrapbooking.

OSU Extension is a partnership of USDA at the federal level, OSU at the state level, and Harney County.
