Feeding the Family on a Budget?
Low income youth and families learn how to budget for food and make healthy choices. Classes are offered in schools (K-6th grades) and at partner sites such as Food Stamp Office, Head Start and Workforce Training.

Do You Have Diabetes or Other Chronic Conditions?
More than 80% of people over age 65 have at least one chronic disease condition, over 50% have two or more. We offer in-depth class series in meal planning for diabetes and self management skills for chronic diseases such as arthritis, heart disease or fibromyalgia

Want to Meet Other Foodies?
We train Family Food Education Volunteers to provide information on cooking and food preservation at food pantries and community workshops. Make new friends and share your cooking skills with others. Certification in Food Preservation available.

Partnerships for a Healthy Community
The issues facing our community today require collective thought and action for meaningful solutions. We are involved in a number of collaborative partnerships including:

Healthy Active Klamath Coalition: Members work together to make the "healthy choice the easy choice." Current projects are Healthy Active Klamath Challenge (6-week wellness event) and implementation of school wellness policies.
Klamath Youth Harvest: Youth work with adults during a 6 month garden project. They learn how to grow and prepare vegetables and gain valuable life skills.

Our Health & Nutrition Education Programs empower individuals, families and the community to make healthy food and activity choices and create environments that support these behaviors. Each year over 6,000 citizens receive education in these programs. As a result, many have improved their food and activity behaviors and reduced risk factors for chronic disease such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer. For every $1 invested in nutrition education, $3.60 is saved in future health care costs. Learn more about how we are making a difference to people in the Klamath Basin.
