Partnerships for a Healthy CommunityOur Health & Nutrition Education Programs empower individuals, families and the community to make healthy food and activity choices and create environments that support these behaviors. Each year over 6,000 citizens receive education in these programs. As a result, many have improved their food and activity behaviors and reduced risk factors for chronic disease such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer. For every $1 invested in nutrition education, $3.60 is saved in future health care costs. Program Offerings: Oregon Family Nutrition Program Managing Chronic Disease Community Volunteers Partnerships for a Healthy Community Klamath Youth Harvest: Youth work with adults during a 6 month
garden project. They learn how to grow and prepare vegetables and
gain valuable life skills. |
