Master Food Preservers Share their Knowledge in 2017 Workshops

The Oregon State University Extension Service Master Food Preserver (MFP) program launched a series of cooking classes for Lane County residents.

Most classes will be held at the Community of Christ Church located at 1485 Gilham Road, Eugene unless otherwise noted. Register by filling out the appropriate form and either mailing or dropping off to the OSU Extension Service MFP in Lane County, 996 Jefferson St., Eugene OR 97402. Some classes have credit card payment options, see below.

2017 Class Offerings

Summer Workshop Offerings - Mail in Registration form.

  • Basic Food Preservation 101 -  Getting Ready for Summer Harves: Saturday, June 24, 2017 (payment with credit card). Class held 10, a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the OSU Extension Service office, 996 Jefferson Street, Eugene. Enter on 10th at the ramp. This class will be repeated on August 23, 2017 (payment with credit card). OR mail in registration form with a check $15 per person. 
  • Fruit Extravaganza - What to do with all that Fruit: Saturday, July 29, 2017, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Class to be held at at the Community of Christ Church, 1485 Gilham Road, Eugene. Mail in registration form with a check $30 per person. Payment with credit card.
  • Pickle Passion - Tips & Tricks for making both quick & fermented pickles: Saturday, August 12, 2017, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Class to be held at the Community of Christ Church, 1485 Gilham Road, Eugene. Mail in registration form with a check $30 per person. Payment with credit card.
  • FULL -Tuna Canning - Saturday, August 26, 2017, 10 a.m. until done. Class to be held at FOOD for Lane County, 770 Bailey Hill Road, Eugene (off W 11th). Please call 541-344-5859 to be put on the waiting list.

Fall Workshop Offerings - Mail in registration form.

  • Tomatoes, Salsa and More: Saturday, September 9, 2017, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Class to be held at at the Community of Christ Church, 1485 Gilham Road, Eugene. Mail in registration form with a check $30 per person.
  • Smoking and Curing - includes Sausage and Jerky Making: Saturday, October 14, 2017, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Class to be held at the Community of Christ Church, 1485 Gilham Road, Eugene. Mail in registration form with a check $60 per person.
