PRESENTORS

Duane Williams joined UW Cooperative Extension as Associate Director in September 2002. In his position, Duane is responsible for supervision all UW CES educators in the ten counties plus Wind River Indian Reservation program in the Western half of Wyoming. He also serves as administrative liaison to the Community Development Education and Profitable and Sustainable Agriculture initiative teams. Duane lived in Oklahoma and earned his first two degrees from Oklahoma State University in agricultural economics. Duane earned a Ph.D. in rural sociology from Kansas State University. Duane has over 20 years of Extension Experience working in Kansas and Missouri prior to his position with the University of Wyoming.


Jay Otto is the manager of West Park Hospital’s Prevention and Wellness Office in Cody. His principle focus is on reducing substance use among youth with specific emphasis on underage alcohol use. Jay has been with WPH for about five years. Jay has a very diverse background. He received his bachelors and masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked as an electrical engineer in the Advanced Projects Group of Hewlett-Packard. He then moved to West Virginia where he was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for two years. He has started his own business, worked for several non-profits, and taught at a community college. In 2001, he moved to Wyoming. Outside of work, Jay is a board member of the Park County Leadership Institute and is the treasurer for Shoshone Therapeutic Equestrian Program. He enjoys teaching math one night a week for Northwest College. He lives on a “ranchette” with his wife, son, one cat, two horses, and three trees. Jay can be reached at jotto@wphcody.org.

 

Libby Curry has worked with Kansas State University Research and Extension for 32 years, serving first as a county extension agent for 18.5 years where major programming effort was devoted to stress management and human relationships. Libby’s current position is Area Extension Specialist, Family and Consumer Sciences. She is located at the Northwest Research-Extension Center in Colby, KS. Her responsibilities include acting as a liaison between the state and counties within Consumer Sciences; program development; limited personnel issues; facilitating a number of trainings and events yearly; leadership development; and the Family Nutrition Program. Libby is a certified True Colors® Trainer. She works with a number of groups yearly to help them gain an understanding of themselves and others. As a certified trainer she has trained a number of others to be instructors with the program.
