Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Food Pantry VolunteerFood Packers

If you are interested in helping limited-resource individuals and families in Lane County, we invite you to become a Lane County Extension Food Pantry Project (FPP) volunteer. Our program volunteers provide monthly food demonstrations at FOOD for Lane County (FFLC) food pantries throughout the county. Volunteers are also needed to help prepare and pack the boxes for the pantries and for classes taught out in the community by our nutrtion education staff. No experience is needed.

Training is provided for prospective and experienced Food Pantry Project volunteers by Lane County Extension faculty/staff and Food Family Education/Master Food Preserver volunteers. The initial training is followed by partnering with a knowledgeable FPP volunteer for pantry demonstration experience. Pantry trainings are generally offered no less than three times per year, updating and refreshing volunteers on numerous food and nutrition related subjects.

The next FOOD PANTRY TRAINING takes place on Wednesday, June 11, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the OSU/Lane County Extension Service Auditorium located at 950 West 13th Ave in Eugene. A tour of FFLC will take place from 3-4 p.m. for those interested. Pre-registration required.

For more information, call the Nutrition Education Program in the Lane County Office of the OSU Extension Service (541-682-4281, or 800-872-8980 if outside the Eugene/Springfield calling area). For services in Spanish, call 541-682-7325.
