4-H Youth Development - Lincoln County

4-H is an informal, practical, learn by doing educational program for youth. The purpose of 4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive members of society. Adult leaders and youth work toward these goals through a series of activities that relate to the total concept of youth development.

Oregon 4-H is a statewide youth educational and development program provided by the OSU Extension Service and offered in our area through the Lincoln County Office. 4-H participation is open to all Lincoln County youth in grades K through 12.

Many 4-H members participate in 4-H clubs, small groups of youth who learn cooperatively while working together on projects. The group is led by one or more adult volunteers. Youth have a variety of projects in which to participate: range of projects in animal science, home economics, natural science, expressive arts, citizenship, and leadership. 4-H is America’s largest out of school educational program for youth. More than 6 million youth participate in 4-H each year.
