4-H Lending Library
To all home schooling parents and teachers: Don't forget that the 4-H office has a small lending library with great 4-H and other curricula for all ages. These books have great ideas for supplementing lessons on many subjects. There are lessons on recycling, entomology, chemistry, gardening and some great interdisciplinary activities, as well as many other topics. We have recently made the catalog of items more user-friendly by dividing it into subjects such as "freshwater resources and fish," "agriculture," "ocean and beaches," and "space."
You may request a list of the items in the lending library, which includes a brief description and the age appropriate information, by calling the Extension Office at 574-6537, ext. 25, or stopping by and picking one up in the 4-H office at 29 SE 2nd Street, Newport. The office is open from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 and 1:00-5:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Items may be checked out for three weeks and renewed by a phone call. The list can also be e-mailed. Call 574-6534, to have it e-mailed or if you have any questions.
