Local Self Reliance Seminars

Local Self Reliance Seminars are a series of workshops that deal with local issues and how local people can learn and adopt present technologies to become locally self reliant.  The workshops are sponsored by Oregon State University Extension and Oregon Coast Community College Small Business Development Center. Topics covered in these workshops are grouped into three categories: Energy, Economy & Community.

Wind energy presentation           Buy local presentation

Bio-diesel in the making               Solar energy discussion

Local Self Reliance-Part III [SEE OUR FLYER]

Community, Energy, and the Economy

This workshop will discuss using energy efficiently, wave energy, bio-diesel, buying local, efficient recycling, virtual farmer's market for Lincoln County, and growing your own local food. There will be a video on using local small wind turbines for energy production during the lunch break. The sessions are shown on the outline below.

This workshop will be held in Newport at the Newport Recreation Center building and the address is 225 SE Avery Street, Newport, OR 97365 on Thursday May 28th, 2009, starting at 9:00 a.m. There will be three independent sessions starting at 9.15 am to 2.15 pm, with lunch being served at 12-1 pm.  Each session will cover three different topics except for the last session with only two topics. Since all topics are locally applicable, you are invited to register and come with your spouse or partner so you can attend as many sessions as possible and later compare notes.  We will try to provide one page summaries for each session for those who might not be able to attend all sessions.
