Tour Georgia Pacific Pulp & Paper Mill- October 15
Ever wonder where your brown grocery bags or cardboard boxes come from? Learn how hardwood and conifer wood chips are used to make these products. See how much recycled paper is now utilized in addition to wood chips. Think in terms of huge equipment and production in thousands of tons. There is no cost to attend. But, you must pre-register no later than October 8 by calling the Lincoln County Extension Office at 541-574-6534.
Basic Forestry Short Course - First Class is October 22
This course (five 3-hour indoor sessions and one outdoor field session) is an introduction to forest management for new and potential woodland owners or for those just interested in learning about forest management. It covers what you need to know and who you might want to contact to begin managing your forest. Class size is limited to 15. Cost for the course and materials is $40 per person or $60 per couple (share the materials). View the agenda or registration form here. Classes will be at the Lincoln County Extension Office, 29 SE 2nd St in Newport.
Ties to the Land: Intergenerational Family Forest Project - TBA
This workshop will be beneficial for forest owners, and farm and ranch owners. This class is not designed to give legal advice but will help you design an orderly transition plan - an orderly way to pass your property on to your heirs. If you are interested in this class, contact Lincoln County Extension at 541-574-5634. Stay tuned for the Time and Date for this important educational class.
