OSU Dept of Rangeland Resources WeedMapper - Weeds are changing the face of forests and rangelands of the Pacific Northwest. Weeds are aggressive plants generally of foreign origin that spread rapidly because they are free of natural predators, competitors, and pathogens. They often displace more desirable native plants and constitute a serious threat to forest and range health.

 

What's in My Neighborhood: Oregon - This is the Oregon page of Invasivespecies.gov, which is the gateway to Federal efforts concerning invasive species with links to OSU sites. On this site you can learn about the impacts of invasive species and the Federal government's response , as well as read select species profiles and find links to agencies and organizations dealing with invasive species issues. Invasivespecies.gov is also the Web site for the National Invasive Species Council , which coordinates Federal responses to the problem.

OWEB - Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board - The Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board is a state agency led by a policy oversight board. Together, they promote and fund voluntary actions that strive to enhance Oregon's watersheds. The Board fosters the collaboration of citizens, agencies, and local interests. OWEB's programs support Oregon's efforts to restore salmon runs, improve water quality, and strengthen ecosystems that are critical to healthy watersheds and sustainable communities. OWEB administers a grant program that awards more than $20 million annually to support voluntary efforts by Oregonians seeking to create and maintain healthy watersheds.

Rare Bull Trout Identification - Bull trout have been closed to harvest to help protect and restore populations.  Any bull trout caught must be released immediately.  Therefore, it is important that anglers can correctly identify bull trout.  Although bull trout can be confused with other fish, they are easily identified with a little practice.  The information on this website will help you learn how to identify bull trout.

EPA- Water Use Efficiency Program - This web site provides an overview of EPA's Water Efficiency Program which is primarily concerned with municipal water use. Efficient water use helps to reduce the need for costly water supply and wastewater treatment facilities, helps maintain stream flows and healthy aquatic habitats, and reduces the energy used to pump, heat and treat water. A broad spectrum of stakeholders, from homeowners to State governments, can find information here that can help them become more water-efficient.

City of Salem Drinking Water Information - The Water Quality section of City of Salem Public Works is charged with ensuring that the highest quality water is being delivered to over 170,000 customers in the Salem area.  Constant monitoring at the City's treatment facility and daily routine testing of the water at various sites throughout the distribution system helps ensure that a clean and safe product is being delivered to customers and that all federal and state regulations are met.   

 

CSREES- PNW Regional Water Quality Program - The goal of this Project is to provide leadership for water resources research, education, and outreach to help communities, industry, and governments prevent and solve current and emerging water quality and quantity problems. To achieve this goal the Partners have developed a coordinated regional water quality effort based on promoting and strengthening individual state programs.

Invasive Weed - False Brome Working Group - The false-brome working group is dedicated to education and outreach, developing control measures, and identifying research needs for false-brome in North America . We are made up of representatives from various federal and state agencies, as well as private and non-profit groups. Our overall goal is the containment and eventual elimination of this pest plant.

 

USRM - Urban Sub-Watershed Restoration Manual - This series of 11 manuals was written by the Center for Watershed Protection to organize the enormous amount of information needed to restore small urban watersheds into a format that can easily be accessed by watershed groups, municipal staff, environmental consultants and other users.

 

Oregon Water Resources Division - By law, all surface and groundwater in Oregon belongs to the public. It is the job of the Water Resources Department to manage Oregon's public water to ensure a sufficient supply to sustain its growing economy, quality of life and natural heritage. That means preserving an equitable balance between public and private uses of water. The Department strives to protect existing uses of water while maintaining adequate levels in waterways to support fish, wildlife, water quality and recreation. The agency promotes water conservation and coordinates water planning activities with other agencies and citizen groups. The agency also manages information about groundwater, streamflows, water rights, and well-log files for public review.
