4-H is a community of young people learning across America, who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4-H programming is based on the theory and practice of positive youth development.  Positive youth development occurs best in settings that allow young people to experience opportunities for mastery, independence, generosity and belonging. Research shows that by participating in 4-H, young people prepare themselves for economic and social success in adulthood while making positive contributions to communities.
