Marion Demonstration Garden

The Marion Demonstration Garden is a project of the Marion County Master Gardeners’ Association. Located behind the parking lot of the county Health and Services building at 3180 Center St. in Salem, it is open to the public free of charge. Monday mornings are the regular time for work parties, so Master Gardeners would usually be available between 9 and 12 to answer questions. Individual and group tours are welcome. Please call the Help Desk, 503.373.3770, for scheduling information.

The Garden’s primary purpose is to enhance Master Gardeners’ expertise through hands-on experience. The overall purpose, however, is multi-faceted, and includes:

  • Provide the opportunity for master gardeners in-training to implement practice various aspects of their classroom training
  • Allow chapter members the opportunity to experiment with plant cultivars and cultural techniques
  • Offer our neighbors an opportunity to see and learn about a variety of plants and cultural practices which are well-suited for our mid-Valley environment
  • Provide support for community based programs such as the Marion County Juvenile Department, as well as Marion-Polk Food Share and community gardens, through donations of plants, produce, and education-based assistance.

Our Garden web page is under construction. Please stop by often to check out new material as our Plot Managers develop their information.
