Physical activity is an important part of a healthy life, family, and community. The OSU Extension Service, Marion County Family and Community Health program aims to build physical activity into programming, as well as promote the following programs:

 

Just Walk Salem Keizer

Just Walk Salem Keizer is a collection of neighborhood level walking groups led by volunteers.  The goal of Just Walk Salem Keizer is to get people out walking to improve their health.  A current list of walking groups can be found at justwalksalem.com

OSU Extension Service, Marion County -- in collaboration with several community partners -- received a one-year grant to expand Just Walk Salem into all six Salem Keizer high school feeder neighborhoods.   Click here to read the story in the Statesman Journal.

 

Walk with Ease

Walk with Ease is an evidence-based walking program helps to increase mobility and decrease pain.  Walk with Ease is eighteen sessions, and includes health education, stretching, and walking as part of each session.  Walk with Ease is offered in several locations throughout Marion County and Oregon.   Click here for more information.  

OSU Extension Service helps train volunteers to lead the Walk with Ease program, and provides technical assistance to leaders and walkers.
