The focus is on service learning that incorporates science, technology, engineering or math in a setting that offers personal interaction with natural resource professions plus on-the-ground projects. The primary focus has been on secondary level natural resource science, but easily incorporates Caretakers of the Environment International conference themes into projects. Based on their participation, youth earn between ½ and 1 ½ high school science credit hours as well as elective community service credit. Improving the quality of life for the local community resonates with most youth, especially when they have a positive social and learning environment in an outdoor classroom.
