    W3: Wildlife, Watersheds, and What-Not
W3: Wildlife, Watersheds and What-Not is a 1/2 credit after-school natural resource based science class open to all high school aged youth in Marion County. 90% of the class is spent outside of a classroom environment, with a focus on exposing students to best practices in natural resources in their own communities. The class occurs once a week, has no homework, and although based out of the Straub Environmental Learning Center on the North Salem HS campus, pickup at students' schools is readily available.

This year's class, which finished in June, included these field trips:

    BLM Arboretum in Salem
Water Intake Facilities at Geren Island
Water Treatment Facilities at Windsor Island
    Kettle Chips
Pringle Creek Community Sustainable Living Center
    Bird Haven
    Overnight trip to Opal Creek
    Oregon Garden
    Zena Timber Sustainable Forestry
