4-H Water Wizards is an afterschool mentoring program focused on water resources, ranging from local watersheds to marine ecosystems. This program uses a combination of lab, field and service learning opportunities to help raise youth awareness and knowledge of environmental resources and issues. 4-H Water Wizards also has a strong connection to academic and professional development and provides older youth campus tours, job shadows, internships and similar opportunities. Youth engineer and build underwater robots while exploring the latest technology and innovations that are used in everything from researching life on the ocean floor to creating breathtaking films.
During this program youth work as a team to design and build an underwater robot called Sea Perch. We combine Sea Perch with underwater video technology to explore aquatic environments. If the team is interested we may also compete in robotic competitions.
For sure! 4-H Water Wizards is a project of Oregon State University and our partners. Build your resume, explore academic programs and well paying, exciting careers that you may not have realized even exist. You will have an inside track to college campuses and special opportunities.
In 4-H Water Wizards you will work alongside college instructors, scientists, and professionals from many fields. Wildlife biologists, park rangers, nature guides, hydrologists, oceanographers, ecologists… Those are just a few of the environmental careers making a difference in our world. But it doesn’t end there.
There is truly something for every interest in 4-H Water Wizards.

4-H Water Wizards is all about hands-on science, experiments and field trips in the real world. What you learn and do matters. It is as simple as that.
Experiments and hands-on science will reveal a world that depends on water in ways you may not have imagined. From the importance of glaciers to deep sea mysteries there is much to explore.
Make a Difference! Sustainability Matters.
Join your friends to help others and the environment by investigating water issues in your community, state and world. Once you’ve found an issue or problem that you care about… SOLVE IT by leading volunteer service projects.
Helping others and the environment is one of the most important parts of 4-H Water Wizards. Everyone who joins the team is required to do at least 15 hours of volunteer service.
There are many ways to help. Are you interested in restoring damaged habitat along a stream? Would you like to plan and lead a beach clean-up? Are there drinking water quality issues affecting people in your community? Or maybe you would like to work on a project supporting access to clean water on the other side of the world. Together with the4-H Water Wizards team you will create positive change.
In 4-H Water Wizards, you will have the opportunity to apply for paid internships and special projects.

This is an excellent opportunity if you are interested in filmmaking. An important part of 4-H Water Wizards sharing your voice and actions with others. We will use video, digital photography and other tools to create short films, photo exhibits and other mediums to highlight the accomplishments of the Water Wizards team and the value of water for our communities and planet. |
