Volunteer Opportunities
We are always accepting new 4-H volunteers Whether you are looking to volunteer at a single event, start a club, or assist with an existing club, let us help you find your fit your fit with Washington & Multnomah Co. 4-H. Please contact us to learn more about these opportunities!
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Help children learn and grow while providing a safe, fun, and educational afterschool choice
- Help local schools by extending the school day and expanding learning opportunities for students
- Meet for an hour or more once/week
- Lead hands-on activities that focus on experiential learning and development of life skills
We currently have 4-H Afterschool Clubs at several schools in Multnomah & Washington Counties including:
- Archbishop Howard School
- David Douglas High School
- Earl Boyles School
- Faubian School
- Forest Grove High School
- Hillsboro High School
- Jim Bridger School
- Sunset High School
- Organize and lead a 4-H club within their local community
- Hold 4-H meetings typically once per month throughout the year and provide a fun, safe and structured learning environment that helps youth develop important life skills
- Create your own schedule, fitting it to the needs of volunteers and families.
- Make a difference in your community while sharing the life experiences, knowledge and skills that inspire you
There are currently over 120 active 4-H Clubs in Washington & Multnomah Counties, which serve over 650 youth. This may seem like a lot, but we have to turn away many youth because our clubs are filled to capacity. Help us reach more youth by becoming a club leader! Check out the most commonly requested clubs below or view a list of 4-H projects to learn more about the many options available through 4-H.
The most common clubs that parents and youth in Multnomah & Washingotn County contact us about are:
- Cloverbuds (for youth in grades K-3)
- Art
- Computer Science
- Dog
- Gardening
- Goat
- Horse & Pony
- Lego Robotics- We have several kits available in this office for 4-H members and leaders to borrow.
- Poultry
- Rabbit
- Spend a day or several days helping young people learn and grow
- Volunteer as an educator while teaching young people a skill such as fishing, plant identification or gardening
- Assist with other important duties such as leading recreational activities
- Volunteer as a camp nurse, van driver or resource coordinator
Current camp volunteer opportunities include:
- Youth Leaders for Sustainability Camp
- ICYI Summer Camp
4-H Public Relations Specialists:
- Use their interests in social networking and the media to help promote 4-H
- Work on projects such as photographing special events, developing brochures, creating web content or hosting a networking site
- Visit local schools distributing flyers, speak at classrooms or school assemblies, or attend special events like trade shows or Saturday markets to share 4-H opportunities with others
