Master Gardener Resources

OSU Extension Master Gardener program provides research-based information to the general public for all household pest and home horticulture questions. Our staff and volunteers are trained to find information to help home gardeners make educated decisions about all aspects of growing and caring for plants in homes, gardens, and landscapes.

We are here to help all residents of the Portland metro area.

We are ready to help you diagnose plant and household insect problems and will make recommendations based on the least-harmful methods available to home horticulturists. We utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which is a decision making process designed to provide gardeners with information on the least harmful methods of handling plant problems through:

1. Cultural practices,

2. Biological control methods, and as a last resort

3. Chemical applications with an emphasis on pesticide safety and timely applications of the least harmful means of control to surrounding biological and human communities.
