Do You Have Plant or Household Pest Questions?

Master Gardeners are trained volunteers, ready to answer your home horticultural questions. We provide research-based information to help you make informed decisions about your home, garden, and landscape. Master Gardeners utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and promote least-toxic management practices. Note: Master Gardeners do not answer questions related to commercial horticulture or personal health.

The more information you give us, the easier it is to answer your questions. Please provide information about the following before you contact us:

Questions about plants and gardening

  • What is the problem or issue?
  • Name of plant, if known.
  • Provide a timeline of the issue.
  • Where is it growing?
  • Where is the problem on the plant?
  • Describe the damage.
  • Any treatments applied? If yes, what? when? at what rate? and what was the result?

Questions about household pests including insects, spiders, etc.

  • What is the problem or issue?
  • Where was the pest found?
  • How many pests were observed?
  • Describe the damage, if any.
  • Any treatments applied? If yes, what? when? at what rate? and what was the result?
If possible, please provide digital picture(s) of the issue. Close-up pictures and pictures of the entire location of the problem are useful in diagnosing gardening/household pest problems.
