Program Area

For the two Oregon outcome items, the “NOW” (mid-2001) averages are relatively consistent across program areas. There are, however, significant program-to-program variations in the change from 1995 to 2001 for item 3b, (Extension's success in making a worthwhile contribution to the quality of life in Oregon.) For respondents from the Family & Community Development program area, the average change was positive. For Agriculture and Forestry, the average change was negative. The average change for Agriculture, Forestry, and 4-H is significantly different from F&CD’s.

For the two organizational outcome items, there are no significant differences, by program area, in the “NOW” (mid-2001) rating or Average Change.

For the two individual outcome items, there are no significant differences, by program area, in “NOW” (mid-2001) averages or average 1995-2001 change. Data table & Significance tests

Location

For the two Oregon outcome items there are no significant differences by location.

For the two organizational outcome items, there is no significant difference, by location, in the “NOW” (mid-2001) rating or Average Change.

For the two individual outcome items, “NOW” (mid-2001) means are consistent across locations (county, campus, and research/extension center). For professional satisfaction, the Average Change (1995 -2001) is consistently negative across locations, but for job security, county people experienced a positive shift, campus people were neutral, and people in research/extension center locations experienced a moderate negative shift. Hire Date

For the two Oregon outcome items. respondents hired since 1/1/95 gave a significantly higher “NOW” (mid-2001) rating to 3b (Extension's success in making a worthwhile contribution to the quality of life in Oregon) than those hired before 1995. For 3c, the difference was in the same direction but not significant. Those hired recently showed a significantly greater positive change than those hired longer ago, for both 3b and 3c.

For the two organizational outcome items, respondents hired since 1/1/95 gave a significantly higher “NOW” rating to 3d (OSU Extension Service’s overall health as an organization) than those hired before. For 3e (The financial well-being of the OSU Extension organization) there was no significant difference by hire date for “NOW” rating or Average Change.

For the two individual outcome items, pre-’95 hires experience a lower professional satisfaction than more recent hires (0.43 difference in NOW means, significant at p=.02). This is the result of a substantial negative shift for pre-’95 hires (-.50) and a positive shift of a similar magnitude (+.54) for the recent hires, even though the timeframe for many of them was shorter than six years. (The difference in the average change for the “old” and “new” hires is significant at p<.001.) Hire date was not related to opinions about job security. Data table & Significance tests
