Resource Breakouts

Analysis by program area and location do not contradict the findings, but specific details emerge.

Six breakout comparison charts are included in the following interactive illustration. Click the thumbnail charts or type their numbers (1-6) on your keyboard to display and switch between charts. Commentary, with links to data tables and significance test results, begins just below the illustration.

Program Area

Analysis of variance indicates relatively strong differences by program for item 5h (Sufficient program support resources, including funding) primarily due to the gap between Sea Grant respondents’ “NOW” ratings (relatively high) and those of F&CD respondents (relatively low). For the other item (5i, pertaining to “sufficient support staff”) the same pattern exists, but is statistically weaker.

Average Changes for 5h showed minor variations but are not significantly different. Average Changes for the “support staff” item were all negative; Agriculture’s and F&CD’s were the most negative, but these differences by program area are not statistically significant.Data table & Significance tests

Location

The only significant difference by location is in the “NOW” ratings for 5i (Sufficient support staff are available within my program area.): county-based respondents gave a somewhat higher rating to this item than did campus-based or “other location” respondents. In other words, county-based and “other-location” respondents were more concerned than campus-based faculty about the level of support staffing. Data table & Significance tests

Hire Date

Respondents hired before 1995 gave significantly lower “NOW” ratings for both items than those hired since 1995. For item 5i (Sufficient support staff are available within my program area), the average change indicated by those hired before 1995 was -.041, which was significantly different from responses of those hired more recently, who, on average, indicated no change.
