The Nutrition Education Program (NEP) consists of two programs:
1. OFNP/FSNE - Oregon Family Nutrition Program is part of the national Food Stamp Nutrition Education program
2. EFNEP - The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program
Oregon State University Extension Service contracts with the US Department of Agriculture to bring nutrition education to Oregon through Oregon Family Nutrition Program (OFNP/FSNE) and Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). These programs comprise Nutrition Education Program (NEP) which brings nutrition education to limited resource Oregonians.

OFNP
Provides food stamp eligible families with the information they need to make healthy food choices and choose active lifestyles. Participants learn practical skills in the following areas:
- Healthy Eating and Activity
- Increasing Household Food Security
- Reducing Foodborne Illness
Oregon State University Extension Service faculty and staff deliver community based nutrition education to adults and youth in 30 Oregon counties. Community partnerships are a key component of OFNP.

EFNEP
is a unique program that operates in three Oregon counties -- Clackamas, Lane, and Washington. EFNEP is designed to assist limited resource audiences in gaining new knowledge and skills in the following areas:
- Food preparation
- Food storage
- Food safety
For 36 years, evaluation data have shown that Oregon EFNEP participants consistently improve their diets, make wiser food choices, and better manage their food budgets. EFNEP helps families develop sound eating habits and behaviors.
