The Oregon 4-H Youth Development Program recently received a $750,000 grant from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture's Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service that will expand 4-H outreach efforts. Spread over five years, the grant will support the Oregon 4-H New Communities Project, which is designed to reach and involve Latino youth and families in Oregon 4-H programs.

Disease prevention is the best way to keep farm animals healthy. The Oregon State University Extension Service recently released “Suggested Vaccinations for Oregon Pork Producers,” a publication that includes guidelines for protecting pigs from harmful, infectious diseases. The brochure provides valuable information for individuals showing animals at fairs as well as hobby and commercial swine producers.
